Time-Out!

This is just a quick post to let you know that I’m gonna be gone for like 3 weeks. I’ve been able to both study and go through some blogposts and comment on them at night but stress is finally winning over and I just can’t focus on anything but my exams. And on top of that, my pre-scheduled posts were deleted – I think my laptop hates me too much – so unfortunately there won’t be any activity here for that time. Once my exams are done, I’ll be back and I’ll go through all posts – I might die a little, or rather my eyes will, but it will be my prize for surviving LOL.

Hope you are having an awesome weekend! See you in 3 weeks! ^^

Vintage Classics: Brontë Series

Maybe you don’t know this about me but I collect different edition of Jane Eyre and when I learnt that Vintage was releasing the new Brontë series I just couldn’t say no.

I read Rebecca last year and despite not writing a full review of it here on the blog, it became one of my all time favourites. Still today there are moments when I find myself thinking about the story and the characters. Du Maurier brings to life and incredible story and memorable characters and it's one of those books I'll recommend to anyone.

On the Come Up by Angie Thomas | 2021 Reads

I enjoyed this because Thomas focuses mostly on the internal conflicts of the main character and how her decisions affect her and everybody around her and still deals with a lot of racial issues that Black (and Brown) young people have to deal with in the US, especially in poor neighbourhoods. Bri is a teen going through a difficult time. She can seem hot-headed, opinionated and, at times, selfish, but she is just trying to be herself, help those she loves and pursue her dreams of becoming a rapper. I was reminded though of why I rarely read YA contemporary fiction these days: one, dramatic teens (don't get me wrong, I get where they are coming from but still makes my eyes roll) and two, intentional lack of communication between adults and kids which drives me up the wall.
