University break is almost at an end and next Monday I'll start not only my courses for Semester 2 but I'll also have to start writing my dissertation now that all I want to do is laid out and my tutor said I'm ready to start. I have four courses; two are related to linguistics and the other two are literature-related and today I wanted to share with you my reading list for them.
First, the ones I'll have to read for Postmodernist English Literature (there are more stuff I'll have to read such as poetry, short stories or fragments in the Norton Anthology):
- Possession by A. S. Byatt, which won the Man Booker. I've read Byatt before, a book about Ragnarok, and I hated it so I'll take this one with a pinch of salt.
- Time's Arrow by Martin Amis. I know nothing about this book. Never heard of it before.
And now, onto the books for my Postcolonial Literature course. These are probably the ones I'm most excited for:
- White Teeth by Zadie Smith. I've been meaning to read Zadie Smith for a while and now I'm "forced" to do so and I couldn't be happier.
- The Woman Warrior by Maxine Hong Kingston. This is a memoir about the author's upbringing as a Chinese-American in California.
- Jasmine by Bharati Mukherjee. I've never heard of this author before but this book is about an Indian woman who becomes a widow when she's 17 and decides to flee to America.
- Bless Me, Ultima by Rudolfo Anaya. This author is acclaimed as the founder of the modern Chicano literature but this is the first time I'm going to attempt reading any of his work. Looks promising.
I'm hoping to enjoy the courses of this semester more than the ones in the last Semester which were somewhat disappointing. Fingers crossed. I'll feel really bad if my last year of Uni turns out to be the worst in terms of enjoyment.

POST EN ESPAÑOL
El post de hoy va sobre los libros que voy a tener que leerme para dos asignaturas que tengo este cuatrimestre -- el último de la carrera *insertar emoticono de la flamenquita del whatsapp*. Las dos asignaturas de literatura son: literatura postmodernista inglesa y literatura postcolonial. Le tengo más ganas a esta última pero espero poder disfrutar de todas las asignaturas porque la verdad no me gustaría acabar la carrera siendo este último año el peor de todos en cuánto a entretenimiento que hasta el momento me ha encantado todo menos el primer semestre de este año que fue un poco mierdero. En fin que me callo ya y os dejo la lista de los libros.
Para literatura postmodernista inglesa me toca leer Possession by A. S. Byatt y Time's Arrow de Martis Amis. Solo conocía el primero y la verdad que me da un poquito de miedo porque he leído otro libro de Byatt y puff, menudo truño me pareció. Y nunca he oído hablar de Martis Amis, a ver qué tal.
Para literatura postcolonial me toca esta vez leer: White Teeth de Zadie Smith que la verdad tenía muchas ganas de poder leer algo de esta autora y por fin tengo la excusa perfecta, The Woman Warrior de Maxine Hong Kingston que es una memoir sobre su vida y su infancia creciendo en California y lo que supone ser de descendencia china, Jasmine de Bharati Mukherjee que va sobre una chica india de 17 años que se queda viuda y decide marcharse a los Estados Unidos, y por último, Bless Me, Ultima de Rudolfo Anaya al que se le considera el padre de la literatura chicana moderna.
